Southampton midfielder Oriol Romeu has travelled to Girona to finalise a move to the Spanish club.
That’s according to Sport, who say the Southampton man is set to sign a three-year deal with his new club.
They explain that Romeu’s move to Girona was ‘thought to be a done deal’ a few days ago but an injury to his replacement at St Mary’s, Romeo Lávia, had put the operation in jeopardy.
However, despite this, Southampton have ‘kept their word’ and will let one of the pillars of Ralph Hassenhuttl’s team depart.
Thus, the midfielder has already travelled to Spain to sign for his new club, and they are ‘anxiously awaiting’ his arrival at Montilivi to finalise the deal.
The 30-year-old is set to become the Spanish side’s most high profile signing and will sign a three-year deal according to reports elsewhere.
Sport make no mention of a transfer fee at this stage but do say that because of Romeu’s contract expiring next year, the fee ‘will not be a problem’ for Girona.
They’re also looking to add two goalkeepers to their squad before the end of the window but at the moment the focus is on Romeu, whose arrival from Southampton is impending.
