When it was revealed that Juventus would need €49.5m to make Carlos Alcaraz’s loan from Southampton a permanent deal, many in Italy nearly fell off their chairs.
The idea of the Serie A side spending that much on a player who was recently plying his trade in the Championship was near unfathomable unless someone else goes the other way.
There has been a lot of talk of that man being Matías Soulé, but Tutto Juve bring up another possibility on Thursday, claiming that Southampton are one of the teams interested in Samuel Iling-Junior.
The 20-year-old, while developing nicely in Turin, has failed to fully convince Max Allegri, and there was already a lot of talk that he could be sold in January.
That never happened, but an article on Wednesday hinted he could end up being sacrificed in the summer if he didn’t make a better case for himself in the next few months.
Now, Tutto Juve believe Juventus ‘will accept offers’ for Iling-Junior in the next transfer window, and they would be wanting a fee of €15m to get a deal over the line.
Southampton are named as one of many interested parties, which, if you take the player’s valuation into account, could make a deal for Alcaraz ‘just’ €34.5m, making him a bit more affordable for the Serie A side if he impresses between now and the end of the season.
