Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo have a big feature in their Thursday edition on young Thomas Partey, known simply as Thomas.
The 23 year old was born in Ghana and joined Atletico Madrid’s youth ranks in 2011, quickly progressing to their second team. A couple of loans followed, and Thomas has got into double figures for first team appearances, but an exit wouldn’t have been a shock.
Mundo Deportivo make it very clear in their article that Thomas is determined to stay where he is, and has refused lucrative offers from several clubs. One of the sides named is Southampton, and it’s not the first time the link has been made.
The newspaper say that Atletico Madrid are keen to keep the player, and with the will of Thomas and his club matching, an exit would appear unlikely.
Right-footed, Thomas can play as a traditional central midfielder or a defensive midfielder. With a contract until June 2020, there’s no worry for Atletico Madrid.
