Arriving as the Southampton’s record signing until Mario Lemina came long, the expectations placed on Sofiane Boufal were quite high.

Sadly, due to injuries and lack of consistency, he hasn’t lived up to them, and stories have appeared in the English media the Morocco international could be on his way out in the summer.

This news didn’t take very long to cross the Channel, as, according to Le10 Sport in their monthly magazine, OGC Nice have taken an interest in bringing the winger back to Ligue 1.

Taking into account the fee Southampton originally paid for him and his wages, the only way a deal would be feasible is if it happened on loan

The French side are said to have made their interest known to the player, but, as things stand, since no ‘concrete negotiations’ have taken place, there has been no definitive answer from the Saints.

It remains to be seen if Mark Hughes’ side would be interested in only seeing him leave on loan.

First, however, the main goal is to stay up in the Premier League.
