Southampton have seen a €17m offer for Rennes forward Kamaldeen Sulemana rejected by the French club, who aren’t keen on a sale.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who the Ghana international has been the ‘subject of two offers’ this month, one from Southampton and one from PSV Eindhoven.
The newspaper explains that the first offer came from the Dutch club and was worth €15m plus €2m in bonuses but was rejected. This was followed by a bid from Southampton, who offered €17m but also saw their bid rejected.
The Saints have been keen to improve their forward line this month and have already brought in Mislav Oršić to help in that regard.
Nathan Jones wants more additions before the end of the window and it seems Sulemana is a name they are looking at.
However, Rennes are not interested in a sale and sporting director Florian Maurice has told the player’s representatives that he wants to keep the player.
As for Sulemana, he is mulling over whether he wants to stay, particularly as he has only managed to feature in 270 minutes of action in Ligue 1 this season. That has led him to ‘consider a move’.
Southampton are seemingly willing to offer it to him but Rennes are standing firm for the time being, rejecting their opening bid of €17m.
