Southampton are close to finalising a deal for Torino centre-back Lyanco as they tie up a replacement for Jannik Vestergaard.

The Saints are on the hunt for a replacement for the giant centre-back, who departed earlier this month in a £15.84m deal to Leicester.

Brazilian Lyanco is the man they have targeted, with Tuttosport reporting that Torino chief Davide Vagnati is ‘sending him to Southampton’.

They state that the Premier League side will pay around €7.5m plus bonuses for the centre back, and the deal could include a percentage on future sales as well.

The newspaper explains that Torino had initially wanted €8m for their man, but the player made it clear he wants to leave Serie A, so the club have elected to take the offer in front of them.

Lyanco is waiting for things to be finalised, recently posting a photo himself on the beach to Instagram.

He will finally be getting his move to the Premier League, with Southampton going one step further than Watford were willing to do in the past.

They had looked to sign the defender via their sister club Udinese in a Pozzo special, but that move never materialised, and he ended up staying with Torino instead.
