Southampton have reportedly made an approach for Portuguese manager Paulo Sousa, according to website Calcio Mercato on Monday.
The outlet says that with Mark Hughes is in danger since defeat to Fulham at the weekend, and the Saints are already looking for a new boss.
After getting to know more about Brendan Rodgers and Peter Bosz, the Premier League side have now made an ‘enquiry’ for Sousa, who’s currently unemployed.
Calcio Mercato claims that the Portuguese manager was approached by Leicester City a month and a half ago, and has been close to Roma as well.
The report says Sousa is looking to return to Italy or to the Premier League, although he’d rather take charge of a team with ‘European ambitions’.
Sousa has some experience in British football, having managed Queens Park Rangers, Swansea City and Leicester City in the past. His last job was in charge of Chinese side Tianjin Quanjian, which he left last month.
