There’s a claim in the Turkish media Trabzonspor are running out patience with Southampton over Paul Onuachu, despite claims a few days ago that a transfer was almost agreed.

The 31-year-old looked to be on the verge of signing for the Super Lig side, but once again negotiations seem to have stalled due to Southampton’s demands.

Sabah report on Trabzonspor’s pursuit for the Nigeria international after claims this week the two clubs were set to shake hands on the transfer.

It’s claimed the Trabzon club have tabled an offer of €6.5m, which they thought would get a deal over the line. However, it’s reported the Turkish club are accusing the Saints of constantly moving the goalposts and asking for a different transfer fee every day.

That may be an exaggeration from the Turkish media, but the frustration shines through.

Subsequently, Trabzonspor could now look elsewhere for a centre forward and have sent the Championship club an ultimatum to accept their latest offer.

Onuachu is expected to leave St Mary’s this summer following Southampton’s relegation to the Championship. He spent the 2023/24 season on loan with Trabzonspor and has been linked with a return to the club endlessly over the past 12 months.

During his time in Turkey, he scored an impressive 17 goals in 25 gamers and has been keen to return to the Super Lig. The forward made 27 appearances for Southampton last season, scoring four goals. He’s contracted until June 2026.
