Earlier this month, Leeds United interest in Alexander Alvarado was reported in South America.
The 20 year old winger had caught the attention of an ‘important scout’ at the Championship club. It was suggested Marcelo Bielsa would be a big attraction for the youngster, should Leeds make a transfer attempt.
Around a week ago, in the player’s native Ecuador, it was claimed the English club have ‘asked’ about the signing. It wasn’t clear whether they’d done this with those who represent Alvarado, or directly to his club SD Aucas.
The player himself, who caught the eye at the U20 World Cup, was said to be calm about the situation and ready to work out which step forward would be best for his young family.
Now he’s been directly asked about Leeds United.
Info Cancha quote him as saying: “It’s something that I saw on social media, I have not talked to anyone, with my representative we talked, but not on that issue. In some days we are going to talk, the day that an option comes arrives we can make it public.”
It’s explained Alvarado made clear he’s a big fan of English football generally, potentially flirting with the idea of moving to the country.
Once again, it’s not mentioned whether he holds an EU passport through family heritage, and without that it would be difficult to obtain a work permit.
