After a week with no updates on Arsenal’s chase for Everton, there are finally some new claims coming from the south of Brazil.
GaúchaZH’s podcast Sala de Redação brings some details about the situation this week, saying the Gunners have the Brazilian as ‘Plan B’.
Journalist Maurício Saraiva says Arsenal actually have Wilfried Zaha as their top priority, and only if they fail to sign the Crystal Palace star, will they seriously go for Everton.
Saraiva says he spoke to a source on Saturday, and that’s how he got some details. It’s claimed the Brazilian isn’t keen on going to a place where he would have few chances, which is the case of Manchester City.
Arsenal’s squad are seen as a better fit for him, since it’s not so full of stars and could give him the chance to prove himself.
Saraiva also claims that he wasn’t told, but ‘felt’ that Grêmio would accept €30m for their share, as long as there are some add-ons in the deal.
But the club only have 50% of Everton’s rights, so Arsenal would have to spend a lot more.
