The Colombia edition of Marca continues with claims of James Rodriguez being close to signing for Everton, in what they say will be a €25m deal.

James’ transfer to Goodison Park is described as being ‘right on track’, and it would see the end of one part of Real Madrid’s ‘Operation Exit’, which had been a big part of the club’s plans this summer.

Carlo Ancelotti is said to be ‘key’ in this operation, since he’s managed the midfielder both at the Galacticos and at Bayern Munich in the past.

There’s even a suggestion Real Madrid could pay off the final year of the Colombian’s contract, which would cost them around €8m.

James would then have to agree to a lower salary with Everton, and whilst no footballer ever wants to do that, Marca don’t think there’ll be any serious problems in that regard.

They do suggest Everton may have an issue signing both James and Napoli’s Allan, but that feels like an assumption from the journalist rather than any concrete information, so is probably nothing to worry about.
