Now, we don’t want to say the Colombian media over-worry about Yerry Mina, but, well… the Colombian media really over-worry about Yerry Mina.
This season there have been claims in the defender’s home country that Everton haven’t been entirely honest about his injuries, and there’s something more mysterious, and concerning, hiding in the corridors at Goodison Park.
Now there’s panic because Mina has appeared in a betting advert.
There are articles all over the Colombian media on this. Mina has been advertising Betjuego in his own country, and that’s apparently against FA rules.
DirecTV quote the troublesome rule: ‘It is not allowed, when acting in a personal capacity, to advertise or promote any betting activity related to football.’
They explain the FA rule applies worldwide, rather than just in England.
Sanctions could range from a fine to a, wait for it, ‘lifetime ban’.
El Tiempo also say the Everton player could be ‘banned for life’ from playing in England.
That’s, unsurprisingly, only in the most serious of cases. What will likely happen, should the FA even take action, is Mina will be informed of the rule and have to end his association with the betting company.
