Renato Sanches is likely to stay at Lille amid Wolverhampton Wanderers’ efforts to sign the midfielder on deadline day, a source has told Sport Witness.
Earlier on Tuesday, we carried a report from O Jogo, who explained the 24-year-old is ‘close’ to joining Wolves on a loan deal with a purchase option.
O Jogo even stated that ‘missing details’ of the operation had to be sorted out on Tuesday for the deal to go through.
However, a source has now told Sport Witness the Portugal international is likelier to continue with the Ligue 1 side. Earlier this month, Sanches underwent knee surgery and is expected to be on the sidelines until October.
The former Bayern Munich man staying at Lille would also diminish Rúben Neves’ chances of leaving Bruno Lage’s side on the final day of the transfer window.
Recent rumours have credited Manchester United with an interest in Rúben Neves, but the same source who provided information about Sanches has told us the Wolves player is expected to continue at Molineux.
Unless there are any last-minute surprises, Sanches and Neves are still likely to be at Lille and Wolves beyond this window.
