Last week, reports from the Brazilian media said Tottenham Hotspur placed a bid for the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk full-back Dodô.
It was claimed that Spurs put €20m on the table, and even though the Ukrainian side turned it down, the talks were set to continue.
With Shakhtar having also rejected an offer from Bayern Munich, the Brazilian press got curious about his situation, and now managed to speak to the player.
It’s TNT Sports who features an interview with the 22-year-old, who claims that despite his good form in Ukraine, he’s still to be contacted by any of those clubs.
“Knowing the interest of big clubs is a source of great joy for me. I came from Coritiba, I didn’t have a good start at Shakhtar, I was loaned out and then I got back on loan, I reasserted myself and I have already played at a high level for three years, with good numbers of games, goals and assists”, Dodô told TNT Sports.
“I believe that the football I presented has generated great interest and I’m very happy, but I leave these matters to my agent to handle. Nothing has come to me and my head is very calm. I’m very happy here at Shakhtar. It’s the club that opened the doors to Europe for me, that allowed me to play in a Champions League, so I’ll serve that club with a lot of love, both in training and in games.”
That report from Globo Esporte had claimed that Tottenham offered €20m and Bayern Munich €25m, so in case Spurs are hopeful of getting the signing this summer, it’s clear they must at least outbid the Bundesliga giants.
Shakhtar Donetsk are still in the fight for a place in the Champions League’s group stage this season, so the qualification could end up having a big impact on the club’s decision to keep their stars or not.
