Not for the first time in recent months, claims have arisen that Roman Abramovich is looking to sell Chelsea.

The Russian businessman’s issues with a visa earlier this year helped to oil the rumour mill, and there’s been whispers around the European media of the club being available for sale.

This weekend’s claims, from The Sunday Times, were rather more detailed and serious than a lot of the talk. It was stated that Abramovich has even instructed an investment group to look at the options for a Chelsea sale.

Over in Russia, this has all made the news.

Abramovich is a big figure in the country and him selling Chelsea would be considered a big step and a surprising one.

Gazeta say a source close to the billionaire has told the Russian media: “These reports have no basis under any circumstances. Abramovich does not think about selling Chelsea.”

It’s made very clear that the Russian has no intention of selling the Premier League club, as far as those close to him are concerned.
