Over the past few days, there has been a lot of speculation regarding the future of Antonio Conte at Tottenham.
This came following Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 title win, as many expect Mauricio Pochettino to be dismissed from his role as the club’s manager due to a disappointing collapse in the Champions League against Real Madrid.
It was quickly stated that Conte had put himself forward to replace the Argentine, with some even claiming the Italian was dreaming of managing the Parisian side.
However, Le10 Sport in France are dismissing all of this, going against the grain with information they firmly believe is the correct one.
They make it clear ‘there is not the slightest discussion’ between Paris Saint-Germain and Conte regarding him taking over once the season ends.
While they don’t deny the Tottenham boss is one of the people on the French club’s shortlist, he isn’t ‘the subject of any negotiation with the Qatari leaders’.
They explain that ‘after information gathered from the club, but also from a source close to Antonio Conte on Tuesday’, they can ‘affirm there is no negotiation between the two parties, and there is therefore no request made on his part’.
That being said, ‘it is correct to say that Paris Saint-Germain are interested in Antonio Conte’, as his profile is one that ‘has pleased Leonardo for a long time’.
Furthermore, for the Tottenham manager to end up in Paris, ‘there are many obstacles’, starting with the money the club would have to pay Spurs to free him of his contract in London, which lasts until 2023.
Therefore, if the Ligue 1 side want him, ‘it will be necessary to go to the cash register and sign a cheque for more than €15m’, which, added to what they will owe Pochettino for firing him, is a lot of money, when the likes of Zinedine Zidane are currently free.
