Destiny Udogie should now be ready to complete his move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Following an agreement between Spurs and Udinese for a €18m move last summer, the fullback stayed at the Serie A side for one more year, and is now set to finally join the London club.
Now as Udogie’s agent Stefano Antonelli was today interviewed by Radio CRC (via Calcio Napoli 1926), he talked a little about the transfer to Tottenham claiming the player is excited about it, but it wasn’t the initial aim.
“Before deciding to go and accept Tottenham’s offer in August last year, we visited the tables of Italian football teams many times because we wanted to stay here. Everyone liked him, but negotiating from an economic point of view has always been difficult,” Stefano Antonelli told Radio CRC.
“Going to Tottenham is something beautiful and he is happy to go there. Remaining in Italy, however, was the first goal.”
Udogie continues to be an important player for Udinese this season, having made 34 appearances, and even having three goals and four assists.
Besides the €18m Tottenham paid for the transfer, there are also €7m that could be added to that amount, depending on performance bonuses.
With Spurs mostly using a three-defender system last season, they mostly had Ben Davies in central defence and other players as wing-backs.
Now we shall see how Ange Postecoglou will set up for the team for the next season, and how will they use Udogie in his first year at the club.
