Luca Koleosho has had an up and down time for Burnley this season.
He’s played 26 times in all competitions and has two goals. While that is a low output, he has played on either flank and has showcased some amount of versatility.
While game time has dried up for him in the past few weeks, it seems as if the Burnley man has caught the attention of Italy manager Luciano Spalletti.
The ex-Napoli boss spoke to TuttoSport about a host of players that can be in the fray to play for the Azzurri and he name-dropped Koleosho while speaking about Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa.
He said: “Chiesa could be one but he needs to play, to be more consistent. And in the Premier he has played too little.
“I look for someone who makes you take a little extra leap against opponents who close in the area, I need people in one-on-one situations. Koleosho is someone like that, he has grit.”
Spalletti is clearly a fan of Koleosho’s raw traits as a player and the 20-year-old’s 1v1 ability in the final third.
The youngster showed that strength in the Premier League last season too, scoring once before falling to a knee injury.
Now that he is in the sights of the Italy manager, Koleosho’s target should be to start impressing consistently in the Championship. That will help him potentially play for the Azzurri in the near future.
