Currently out with a foot injury, Dennis Praet could end up returning to Leicester City in the summer.
Loaned out to Torino for the season, the midfielder took some time to get going, but became increasingly important in Ivan Juric’s plans as the season went on before his untimely setback.
The Serie A club then went on a poor run of form, clearly missing the Leicester man, which led the manager to try and convince his club to keep the player for longer than this season.
Unfortunately, that comes with complications, since Torino can’t really afford the pre-agreed €14m or so option to buy to sign him permanently, but the idea of a new loan has been mooted.
La Stampa have an article on the matter, relayed by Torino Granata, explaining ‘the only solution would be the renewal of the loan for another year’.
On the face of it, this is something Leicester may be open to, since the midfielder’s contract with them expires in 2024, giving them time to see how he fares should he play an entire season with the Serie A side next year.
This is something Juric would love, as he intends to plan the upcoming campaign with his Belgian star in mind, seeing him as having a ‘crucial role’ in his team.
He wants the Leicester loanee to play as the attacking midfielder, ‘acting between the lines and precisely connecting the midfield with the attack’.
