Harry Kane was ‘wanted at Old Trafford’ in the summer, according to Thursday’s edition of Dagbladet.

Towards the end of last season, the striker had publicly asked to leave Spurs. Manchester City were keen on acquiring his services, but Daniel Levy was reluctant to let the 28-year-old leave in the summer.

The Norwegian newspaper now provides a background into Manchester United showing interest in Kane.

It’s claimed United started focusing on the England international after he opened the door to changing clubs.

Although there was concrete interest from Pep Guardiola’s side, Dagbladet explain the frontman was also ‘wanted’ at Old Trafford.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s man is ‘said to have been in no way dismissive’ of the possibility of leaving Tottenham for Manchester United in the last window.

A deal, however, didn’t progress because Kane’s price tag was deemed ‘too expensive’ for both Manchester clubs.

Manchester United finished the window by signing Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo, and were also successful in retaining Edinson Cavani for this season.

After failing to win their last four league matches, which included a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool, Solskjaer’s men will face Tottenham at the weekend. The former Cardiff City manager will be under even more pressure if United fail to beat Spurs.
