Mitchell Dijks spent the second half of last season on loan at Norwich City from Ajax, the Championship club had a buying option and had wanted to take that up, but couldn’t get Dijks to agree to the permanent move.
Norwich City director Stuart Webber told the BBC earlier this month: “Unfortunately, we couldn’t come to an agreement and will now be moving onto other targets.”
Soccer News in the Netherlands report that Birmingham City are interested in the player, having already been linked previously.
Harry Redknapp’s Birmingham may hit a hurdle with Dijks’ wish to test himself as highly as possible. Speaking to Voetbal International, the Ajax owned fullback said about Norwich: “If we had got to the Premier League, I was definitely still there.”
Dijks still has a fondness of English football and is aware of interest from the country, but didn’t mention Birmingham specifically.
After the player snubbed a return to Norwich City, Redknapp would have to persuade 24 year old Dijks that Birmingham City have a good shot at promotion to the Premier League.
