Leeds United sent an official to Romania to watch the clash between FCSB and FC Rapid București at the weekend.
This is what Romania’s FANATIK are reporting. They were provided this update by former Galatasaray and Valencia forward, Adrian Ilie.
Appearing as a guest on FANATIK’s show, the 48-year-old revealed that several clubs were in attendance at the Arena Națională to watch the clash between FCSB and Rapid București on Sunday.
Ilie, however, only named Leeds and didn’t mention any other club. The derby clash ended in a 3-1 win to FCSB.
The former Romania international further went on to reveal that the Premier League side’s scouts were there to make an observation about the level of football in the country. The Whites representatives were left disappointed with what they saw.
“Last night [Sunday] there were a lot of club staff at this derby. From Leeds, from several clubs. Guests I know, I didn’t make it to the match. They didn’t follow anyone; they came to see the level. Very slow pace, that’s what the club representatives tell us. Very slow, very weak,” Ilie said.
Ilie’s comments would clearly indicate that Leeds United won’t be rushing to buy from the Romanian market.
