Manchester United are eyeing up Eintracht Frankfurt striker Andre Silva as a cheaper alternative to Erling Haaland.
That’s according to Sky Sport Germany, who say the striker is ‘on the shortlist’ at Manchester United and Atlético Madrid.
The Portuguese striker has been in impressive form this season, with 18 goals in the Bundesliga meaning only Robert Lewandowksi has scored more goals than him thus far.
Indeed, no player in Europe’s top five leagues has scored more goals in 2021 and that ‘arouses desires’ according to Sky.
In addition to Atlético, who were interested in the January transfer window, Manchester United have also shown an interest in the forward.
They are on the hunt for a centre forward this summer, and while Haaland is still thought to top the list, Silva would be a ‘much cheaper option’ as he is available for €30m.
That’s significantly less than the Norwegian, with Dortmund likely to demand at least double that for their star striker, even if they are desperate for cash.
In a tight market due to Coronavirus, that could be significant, with Silva potentially ready to make the big move that many, including us, have predicted for some time.
