Aston Villa have had an impressive return to the Champions League so far this season.
They have two wins in two games, beating Bayern Munich at Villa Park in their most recent game in the competition.
Their next game sees them host Bologna at home, with the Italian side quite different from how they were last season under Thiago Motta, and currently winless in the competition.
Bologna’s Dan Ndoye spoke to La Repubblica today and while he was asked about a host of things, the question of the trip to Aston Villa was also put forward to the Swiss star.
He had big praise for Unai Emery’s side, comparing them and the club’s atmosphere to Liverpool.
“A difficult match, it’s the Champions League. Aston Villa play very well with great intensity with and without the ball, we will find a similar environment to Anfield, but there we showed that we can compete against top-level teams”.
Bologna gave a pretty good account of themselves against Liverpool and something similar could happen against Aston Villa, who should be prepared to play against the Rossoblu’s high-risk/high-reward approach under Vincenzo Italiano.
The fact that they have just one win in Serie A should give Aston Villa confidence, though, especially considering how Emery’s side will feel that they can beat any team in the Champions League after the win over Bayern Munich.
