Jose Mourinho taking over at AS Roma has really seen Italian transfer rumours go through the roof. The former Tottenham manager doesn’t officially take up the role until the end of the season, but there’s insistence he’ll already be working on signings.
That saw Manchester United’s David De Gea linked, with the claims stating Roma could look to take him on loan in the summer. The Spaniard has lost his place to Dean Henderson, at least in the Premier League, so there’s an assumption he’d consider the move.
However, Calciomercato believe signing Wolves stopper Rui Patricio is a likelier track for Roma. That’s down to De Gea’s colossal wages, with it not thought the Italian club would be willing to go anywhere near the figures he gets at Manchester United.
Along with the Wolves man is Josa Sa, currently goalkeeper for Olympiacos in Greece. Both he and Patricio share a Gestifute connection, the agency owned by Jorge Mendes.
Before any of that, Roma would have to find a solution for Pau Lopez, and it’s stated there’s interest in England.
