Angelo Ogbonna picked up a cruciate injury earlier this season, and isn’t expected to return to action before the end of the current campaign.

There’s been suggestions West Ham will consider a renewal for the 33-year-old, yet given his contract expires in a few months, his situation is very much in question.

Ogbonna moved to West Ham in 2016 from Juventus, and since then he’s been repeatedly linked with a return to Italian football. Most of the claims have involved the idea of cheap transfers or loans, and when the reality of the situation, and what West Ham would ask for, became known, Serie A clubs drifted away.

The situation is of course now different, with the central defender potentially a free agent at the end of the season. His injury isn’t putting everyone off, and a potential move to Lazio has now been presented.

Citta Celeste say Ogbonna is the ‘most feasible’ signing for Lazio in the summer, in terms of experienced defenders coming to the end of their contracts.

A lot will surely depend on just what any West Ham renewal offer contains.
