Making the right-back position their priority for January recruitment, Celtic have struggled to convince clubs to let go of their players.

Wanting to bring in someone relatively young instead of targeting perhaps more attainable defenders, Brendan Rodgers’ team saw attempts to sign Timothy Castagne rebuffed before seemingly finding some luck with Borussia Dortmund and Jeremy Toljan.

However, RMC Sport bring news on Wednesday of another right-back Celtic went after: Colin Dagba.

According to the French outlet, the Scottish Premiership champions wanted to sign the 20-year-old on a loan with a view to buy, much like they are doing with Toljan, only for Thomas Tuchel to ‘personally’ stand in their way.

Having already acquired Timothy Weah from the Ligue 1 side, Celtic tried to make it two, but the German manager ‘refused to open the door’ for the youngster, who recently signed a new contract keeping him at the club until 2023.

Despite facing competition from both Dani Alves and Thomas Meunier, Dagba has managed to pick up four appearances in all competitions for Paris Saint-Germain’s first-team this season, the latest of which came against Reims back in September.
