Sandro Ramirez’s loan at Real Sociedad has been pretty poor.

Throughout much of the season there were claims it hadn’t been a great idea to take him from Everton. Then, around the beginning of this year, reports emerged the Basque club’s manager, Imanol Alguacil, had been impressed and wanted to keep Sandro beyond the end of the season.

He thought the former Barcelona player put a lot of effort in during training sessions, so the assumption was he’d come good eventually, but that idea wasn’t shared by others at Real Sociedad, and it’s now been long forgotten.

The last time 23 year old Sandro found the back of the net was for Everton in a Europa League clash against Atalanta in November 2017, and his last league goal was in May of the same year for Malaga against Celta Vigo.

It’s a terrible record, even if he’s been playing more wide.

Diario Vasco, local to Real, explain that towards the end of the season, Sandro’s place in the team was taken by 17 year old Ander Barrenetxea. The youth product has started 5 La Liga games, and actually scored a goal.

Noticias de Gipuzkoa, also local to Sandro’s loan club, say the balance shows signing the player from Everton has been ‘very negative’.

He’ll be returning, then.
