Bayern Munich have been handed a major boost ahead of their clash with Manchester United tomorrow with Leon Goretzka and Dayot Upamecano returning to training this morning.
That’s according to BILD, who say the German giants ‘breathe a sigh of relief’ after the duo returned to the fold.
The newspaper reports that today’s final preparation session for the clash with Manchester United tomorrow was a positive affair filled with ‘good news’ for Thomas Tuchel as both Goretzka and Upamecano returned to team training.
Both should be fit for the game despite the pair having been separated and left to do individual training programmes on Monday.
They weren’t out on the pitch and thus there was still some ‘uncertainty’ as to whether they would be fit for Wednesday’s game.
Their return today indicates that they will, though, and Tuchel will be able to draw on the ‘full potential’ of his squad, minus long-term absentee Manuel Neuer.
There were further boosts than the aforementioned two as Kingsley Coman also ‘trained fully again’ and Jamal Musiala continued his work to get to full fitness after returning from a three-week injury against Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend.
Tuchel, ironically, will not be there for the game as he serves a ban following his sending off against Manchester City last season.
That means he can’t sit on the bench here or enter the dressing room in the 15-minute period before the clash with Manchester United begins. That’s a minor hiccup, though, and today provided plenty of positive news to outweigh it.
