Reports came from Spain on deadline day that Tottenham Hotspur were in talks with Valencia goalkeeper Diego Alves.

The Brazilian has been thought to be available for transfer this summer, and the reports said Tottenham saw him as an alternative in case their move for Pau Lopez fell through.

Espanyol want to fully secure a replacement reserve goalkeeper before they allow Pau’s move to Tottenham to be completed, and with it getting late the London club were apparently looking at other options.

Diego Alves isn’t too happy with all the reports and Deporte Valenciano quoted the goalkeeper as saying: “Tomorrow will see if I stay I or I go. Some of you have told many lies about my departure… shut your mouths.”

That’s everyone well and truly told then.
