While Tottenham are preparing to face Sporting Clube de Portugal in the Champions League this week, Marseille will be travelling to Eintracht Frankfurt for their fixture.

Despite this, the city in the south of France are already laying down the groundwork to welcome Spurs fans the following week, with the game set to be played on November 1st.

Dealing with travelling fans can sometimes be an issue, and Marseille, the city, are trying to ensure no incidents take place when Tottenham and their supporters travel for the game.

RMC Sport have a report on this explaining the police have decided to ‘keep the same security plan as the one put in place for Feyenoord last May’.

With 1600 Tottenham fans expected to travel, they will all be corralled into Place de Joliette before the game, while the trip to the stadium via bus will be available ‘only for supporters with a ticket’.

After a meeting with the local police prefect as well as representatives of both Olympique de Marseille and the London club, the decision was made to keep the same measures in place as the Feyenoord game last season.

On Tuesday, the prefect also ‘visited shopkeepers in the city centre, notably to warn them of potential unrest’ on November 1st.

That’s why members of the police will be in the city centre and around the Stade Vélodrome on game day, as well as on Monday evening, to ensure everything goes to plan.
