Earlier today, we covered reports from the Italian media claiming Napoli are considering the signing of Gianluca Scamacca from West Ham United.

It was written that the player’s agency have cut ties with him, making it sound like something is happening behind the scenes with the Italian forward.

It turns out that as CalcioMercato.it now features a story about the West Ham striker, they claim the 24-year-old is ‘not so convinced’ he should stay at the club beyond this season.

It’s said there had already been ‘hesitations’ regarding his move to the Hammers, as he’d have preferred to have stayed in Italy or move to Paris Saint Germain.

With things not going great at West Ham, it’s said a ‘divorce in June is therefore very probable’, with the chances of the Hammers letting him move on a loan with a right to buy.

CalcioMercato.it adds that Scamacca ‘very probably’ would like to return to Italy, where the likes of Inter Milan and Napoli had been interested in him last summer.

The striker joined West Ham on a €36m deal last year, and has seven goals in 24 appearances for the Hammers so far. His contract runs until 2027, with an option for a further year.
