Sergio Romero hasn’t ever seemed so bothered about not being first choice for his club.
Joining Manchester United with David De Gea at Old Trafford, it wasn’t really within the realms of possibility that Romero would force his way through.
But this hasn’t been strange for the goalkeeper, it was a similar, if not as drastic situation at both Sampdoria and AS Monaco beforehand.
Romero’s big aim has always been the national team and he’s continually been picked to represent Argentina, regardless of his status at Manchester United or elsewhere.
But now comes shock news from South America, it’s claimed by TNT Sports that Romero is out of the World Cup with a knee injury.
TNT sound confident, and push forward journalist Hernan Castillo with the claim.
This would come as a huge blow to the player, given the national team has been his direction for so long.
Romero is 31 years of age and has a contract with Manchester United until June 2021.
