Championship side Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly in talks to sign Benfica midfielder João Amaral.
As reported by Portuguese newspaper O Jogo today, the 26-year-old could be moving to England on a one-year loan deal this summer.
The outlet doesn’t have any details on how the negotiations are going, and they just make clear that the move to Hillsborough is a big possibility for the player.
Amaral has just joined Benfica in a move from Vitória de Setúbal. He’s joining the Eagles on a €600k deal, and signed a contract which runs until 2021.
So since Benfica have just bought the player, it seems unlikely that Sheffield Wednesday would manage to get him on a permanent deal after the loan, unless the move means a pretty good profit for the Eagles.
In case the transfer is confirmed, then João Amaral would meet his former teammate Frederico Venâncio at the Championship club.
In the last season with Vitória de Setúbal, Amaral had nine goals and four assists in 40 appearances.
