Sheffield Wednesday new signing Urby Emanuelson has told the Dutch media he expects to play in a number of positions whilst at the club. The former Holland international has signed a contract with the Championship side after being released by Hellas Verona.

In an interview with Voetbal International, Emanuelson revealed he spoke to Sheffield Wednesday coach Carlos Carvalhal with regards to his role in the team.

The Dutchman said Portuguese manager Carvalhal has faith in him, which the player appreciates. Emanuelson confirmed from their discussions he will start at fullback, but he could be used in a number of positions throughout the season.

“The coach said that he has a lot of confidence in me and that’s what I need. He wants to use me firstly as a left back, but everyone knows the positions I’ve played in my career, so I can still end up in the midfield,” said the ex-Ajax player.

Emanuelson comes with plenty of experience after playing in the Dutch League, Serie A and the Premier League during his career. The 30-year-old also has played at international level for Holland after making his debut in 2006.
