Carlos Carvalhal’s time at Sheffield Wednesday is followed very closely by the Portuguese media.
There’s understdnably a big pride in Portugal over how well their managers do around the world, and just because Carvalhal is in the Championship it doesn’t mean he’s less covered than others.
In fact, the Sheffield Wednesday manager has been so affable with the Portuguese media that there’s a genuine warmth in the coverage of him, and, by extension, in how the Portuguese media views Sheffield Wednesday.
That’s why O Jogo doesn’t seem particularly angry with the Yorkshire club for stealing away a fitness coach from Pacos de Ferreria. In their Saturday edition, the Portuguese newspaper report that Carlos Sales is off to English football to join Carvalhal at Sheffield Wednesday.
It shows a further committment from Carvalhal to the club, he’s hardly going to snatch Sales away from Pacos de Ferrerira if the plans aren’t very much long term at Sheffield Wednesday.
