Sheffield United are on the verge of signing Vini Souza from Lommel SK, if the latest reports from Brazil are to be believed.

The news comes from Venê Casagrande, who took to Twitter to report the news that the Blades are close to sealing the transfer of the defensive midfielder from the City Group club.

It’s explained that Sheffield United will spend €12m to bring the 24-year-old to England, in what will be his fourth season in European football.

Originally bought for €2.5m from Flamengo, the player has spent the last couple of seasons out on loan, first at KV Mechelen before heading to Spain to Espanyol for the 2022-23 campaign.

That seemingly was enough to convince Sheffield United that he was the man they needed to reinforce their midfield, and the decision to send a lot of money to the Belgian side has been made.

Flamengo, down their end, had a 40% of a next transfer clause in the original deal, meaning they will receive around €4m from, according to Casagrande.

This could be a further indication that Sander Berge is on his way out of Bramall Lane.
