Turkish newspaper Fotomac claim Sheffield United have made an opening bid for Trabzonspor goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır, however, it’s been rejected by the Karadeniz Firtinasi.
In recent weeks we’ve covered claims from Turkey which suggested Sheffield United were going to make an offer for the 24 year old once the season was over, and Fotomac report the bid has now arrived.
However, it’s reported an offer of €15m was turned down by the Trabzonspor board. The Turkish side are looking to get more from the sale of Çakır, and they’ve made this very clear to Sheffield United officials.
Fotomac adds the Premier League side are likely to return with an improved bid for Cakir in the near future, and there’s a significant chance that he could leave the club.
Çakır has been in fantastic for Trabzonspor since last season and has been linked with moves to Liverpool and Chelsea in the past. He’s under contract with the club until June 2024.
