In January 2022, Wolverhampton Wanderers agreed a deal with South Korean side Suwon Samsung Bluewings for the transfer of Jeong Sang-bin.

The Premier League club didn’t include the forward in their squad and sent him out on an 18-month loan deal to Swiss Super League side Grasshopper.

On Friday, the South Korea international’s loan deal was cut short and he returned to Wolves. According to Nau.ch, he wanted an ‘immediate departure’ from Grasshopper as he had problems with ‘language and culture’ in Switzerland.

Grasshopper manager Giorgio Contini shared his unhappiness at the manner in which the 20-year-old has left the club.

“I haven’t seen him again. He also didn’t say goodbye personally, which makes me a little sad. It’s a shame it ended so abruptly,” he said.

Sang-bin made 15 appearances in all competitions since the second half of last season and failed to score a goal or register an assist. The Wolves owned player was restricted to 43 minutes of action from 6 games this year.

The report further adds Sang-bin’s departure was also ‘controlled’ by his agent. Contini understood the player’s struggles and didn’t blame him for his poor spell at Grasshopper.

“It’s a chapter that ended unhappily, especially for him. He was let down on his first transfer to Europe. But that’s just a fraction of everyday life,” Contini explained.
