On Wednesday morning, the Spanish media had been sharing concern regarding the potential absence of Sevilla midfielder Joan Jordan for the match against Manchester United.
With discomfort in the Achilles tendon, the 28-year-old had already missed the first leg at Old Trafford. And despite having played at the weekend, he was now out of their last training session ahead of the decisive match in Spain.
Now as Sevilla release an official statement on Jordan’s situation, it’s confirmed that he’s not playing on Thursday evening.
On their website, the club explains that the player had been showing discomfort in his left ankle, and the situation got worse with a blow suffered at the weekend.
Sevilla are now set to take his recovery more seriously, sidelining him for a while. That means he’ll miss the match against Manchester United and also the following ones in La Liga.
That’s good news for the Red Devils, who did have a good performance against the Spanish side last week, despite the mistakes in the second half which allowed the visitors to find the 2-2 draw.
