All season Sevilla have gambled with the fitness of Samir Nasri, and there’s a worry they may be paying for it now. Sevilla have a crucial period coming up with matches against Leganes, Leicester City and then Atletico Madrid.
The narrow nature of Sevilla’s 2-1 win in Spain puts the club under a lot of pressure for the trip to Leicester, and Jorge Sampaoli can’t really rest anyone. They need to beat Leganes after a disappointing draw against Alaves, and the pressure is really on.
Sevilla are keen to have the ‘best version’ of Nasri available to face Leicester City, but they probably should have considered the business end of the season earlier.
Nasri has been played through injury, rushed back too soon and pushed too hard repeatedly, and the biggest surprise is that he’s still managing to be so important for Sampaoli.
If Sevilla can keep the Frenchman in working order then he’ll be extra keen to excel against Leicester City and prove some onlookers in England wrong.
Spanish newspaper AS report that Sevilla are more than a little anxious about the chances of having him in one fully working piece.
