Sevilla have announced an agreement to sell their captain Vicente Iborra to Leicester City.

The Spanish club have made the step official on their website, after earlier claims in the Spanish media that a transfer was very close to being agreed for a fee in the region of €14m.

Sunderland tried to sign Iborra during the last summer transfer window, but the deal fell apart at the end, and it’s been clear the midfielder is tempted by the wages on offer in England.

Sevilla say Iborra will now travel to Leicester City to have a medical, and as long as everything is fine in that respect, he’ll sign a contract to join the Foxes.

Once the player completes a transfer to Leicester City, Sevilla say he’ll return to say goodbye to the Spanish club and its supporters.

This is traditional for Sevilla, when a player leaves the club on good terms there’s often an emotional press conference which makes it look like the footballer never wanted to leave in the first place.
