Three months ago, claims from Spain stated Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City are among the clubs showing interest in Deportivo de La Coruña’s Yeremay Hernández.

It was also reported Wolves and Leicester are willing to pay his €33m release clause. This was before the Foxes were relegated to the second division.

La Provincia spoke to the winger yesterday to discuss his future and claims of Wolves and Leicester City interest.

The 22-year-old is a product of the Segunda División club’s youth system and made his way into their first team in 2021.

He had a standout season with Deportivo de La Coruña, scoring 15 goals and registering five assists from 39 games last season. Napoli have also been credited with an interest in the Spain U21 international.

La Provincia asked him about talk of Wolves, Leicester and Napoli interest and wanted to know ‘how much truth was there in all of that’.

When responding, Yeremay Hernández said clubs have registered interest, but he wanted to continue with the Spanish side.

“These are things my agents handle, and at the time I was focused on the U21 national team. Several teams have expressed interest in me. In the end, I made the decision to play for Dépor, and that’s what I’m sticking with,” he said.

On June 16th, the attacker signed a new contract until 2030. He feels Deportivo de La Coruña are the best club for him to continue his development.

“This season with Dépor has been very good on a personal level and for the club, after four years away from professional football. We’re back and we’ve had a very positive campaign,” Yeremay Hernández explained.

“I’m staying at Dépor because it’s my decision, what I want and longed for. I’ve made it, and that’s the most important thing.”

“I’m only thinking about continuing to grow, continue to improve, and continue to learn. For that, the best place is Deportivo. That’s why I’m staying, also with the dream of being promoted with the club that has given me everything.”
