As reported by Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, Newcastle United were one of the clubs who sent scouts to the Portuguese Cup match between Porto and Vitória Guimarães.

With 14 goals in the last three games, Porto had another fantastic performance, giving no chance to the away side and winning 4-0.

Now leading the Portuguese league table as well, the Dragons are showing they will be a heavy challenge for Liverpool in the Champions League knock-out stage.

Newcastle have been linked to two Porto players recently: Vincent Aboubakar and Iker Casillas. And they live quite opposite moments at the club.

Aboubakar has been the main striker, with 21 goals this season. Although he was expected to leave in the summer, now any club would have to spend big to take him from Porto.

Casillas, as reported in the past few days, should be on his way out soon. But with competition from MLS and La Liga, Newcastle also need to step up in order to get him… if they have any interest at all.

Anyway, Casillas is still on the bench, and Newcastle knew that before going to the game. Aboubakar didn’t have a brilliant match, but was still able to score a goal with a penalty kick.

Other players such as Ivan Marcano, Diego Reyes, Hector Herrera, Alex Telles and André André all did good as well. With such a blasting performance, there was definitely a lot for Newcastle to see.

Besides the Magpies, Manchester United, Watford and West Ham sent scouts to the match as well.
