Willem II and RKC Waalwijk are ‘keeping a close eye’ on developments around Manchester United and Frenkie de Jong.
That’s according to the technical director at Willem II, Martin van Geel, who has commented on how his side could benefit from the potential major deal.
Barcelona midfielder De Jong has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer, with Erik ten Hag keen to be reunited with him at Old Trafford.
Talks over a transfer have been underway for some time, and it is believed Barcelona have already struck a deal with Barcelona for the transfer to take place.
However, it is being held up by the Dutchman, who has always maintained he wants to stay at the Nou Camp this year.
It, therefore, remains to be seen if Manchester United can get their man in a deal that is likely to cost upwards of €60m.
It’s a situation that everyone is keeping a close eye on, including Willem II and RKC Waalwijk, who are both set to pocket a training rights percentage from any deal.
“Serious money,” Van Geel told Voetbal International, relayed by Soccer Nieuws.
“We keep a close eye on it in the media. If it comes to a transfer, it would be a fantastic thing for us and RKC.
“The bonuses that actually come into effect just count in the end. The basic transfer fee is paid in instalments nine times out of ten, which means that as a training club, you also receive the solidarity amount in instalments.”
