Leaving Liverpool for Milan, Suso has managed to rebuild his career in Italy, now seen as one of the club’s most important players without whom their creativity would take a massive hit.

With four goals and eight assists to his name already, the Spaniard has also managed to earn himself a number of suitors, many of whom are still hanging around after they first appeared in the summer.

Among those are apparently Chelsea, who are name dropped on Wednesday by Gazzetta dello Sport in an article looking at the forward’s contractual situation, after the player’s agent was seen meeting with Milan chiefs on Tuesday.

Tied to the Serie A side until 2022, it’s his €40m (or €38m, depending on the source) release clause that is the main worry, as the club know such an amount is almost a ‘discount price’ for clubs like Maurizio Sarri’s.

Chelsea’s interest in the player has been around since July when it was reported his representative, Alessandro Lucci, offered him to the Blues, while an article from Calciomercato last week claimed the same agent met with Marina Granovskaia.

The competition, at least according to Gazzetta, is Atlético Madrid, who signed Gelson Martins from Sporting CP over the summer, as well as spending over €60m on Thomas Lemar for their left-wing.
