Inter Milan could move to sign Aston Villa goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini, according to claims in the Italian media. The 21-year-old only joined Aston Villa in the last transfer window, but could be set for a return to his home country.

TMW today report Inter Milan are considering signing Gollini after he impressed for Hellas Verona last season. The Serie A giants want to sign a backup to current No.1 Samir Handanovic, and the Aston Villa youngster is seen as a possible candidate. Inter Milan would want Aston Villa to loan Gollini to them, with a right of redemption.

There has also been recent speculation Aston Villa could see Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone as a possible replacement for Gollini if he were to leave the Championship side.

Gollini joined Aston Villa in the summer from Hellas Verona and has gone on to make 20 league appearances for Steve Bruce’s side. The Italian started in the Fiorentina youth System, before finishing his apprenticeship with Manchester United.

The young goalkeeper had two years in the Manchester United youth academy, but never made an appearance for the senior team.

Despite seeming to lurch from crisis to crisis, Inter are still a huge pull in Italy. It would be understandable if Gollini was tempted.
