The agent of Fiorentina forward Khouma Babacar has told the Italian media they’ve received offers from Premier League teams. Babacar was linked with a move to England in the last window, with Crystal Palace keen to sign the player.
Calciomercato have reported on comments made by Patrick Bastianelli following a change in fortunes for his client this season. Bastianelli believes Babacar is now getting the playing time he deserves for the Serie A side, which is good for his future.
Babacar’s agent also confirmed he wanted to prove his worth to Fiorentina, and subsequently turned down moves to the Premier League.
“Now Baba has reached a sufficient maturity to be able to be a player in the future of Fiorentina. He certainly didn’t have the continuity that he deserved, but has always been ready to play. He also turned down offers from the Premier League just to prove his worth with Fiorentina,” said the player’s agent.
During the last window we covered reports from Italy that Crystal Palace tabled a bid in the region of €10m to sign the forward. Crystal Palace had previously been linked with Babacar in the summer window before they signed Christian Benteke from Liverpool.
However, despite these claims from Babacar’s agent that the player turned down a move to Crystal Palace it was reported at the time it was his club who rejected the Premier League side’s bid.
