Rumours between Manchester United’s Matteo Darmian and the Italian clubs have gone quiet this week, but it didn’t stop the local media from insisting on the matter.
After Inter Milan’s Europa League match against Southampton last night, full-back Davide Santon was asked about the possibility of having Darmian as his teammate.
“He’s a great guy and an important player. If Inter signed him, it would be a good buy”, Santon told reporters (via Calcio Mercato).
The very same Santon had already been asked this question this month, when he also said Darmian was a friend and would be welcomed at the Italian club.
Matteo Darmian had another chance to start under José Mourinho this Thursday, during Manchester United’s 4-1 win over Fenerbahce.
Apart from this game, Darmian’s only appearance under the Portuguese boss had been in the Europa League tie against Feyenoord in September.
His lack of game time is what gives the Italian media more confidence about his exit, as they believe that despite having rejected approaches for him during the summer, United would accept to loan him out in January.
