With Joao Cancelo being sent around Europe, whether it be to Juventus, Wolverhampton or Manchester, Inter are going to have to find a new right-back for next season.

The Serie A side seem far from inclined to make the defender’s loan from Valencia permanent, primarily for financial reasons, and are now looking for an alternative.

Among the names, Chelsea’s Davide Zappacosta has emerged as a potential target, with Corriere dello Sport on Monday reporting that Piero Ausilio, Inter’s director of football, contacted the full-back’s agent ten days ago.

The Italian newspaper believe a fee of around €20m would convince the Blues to let the Italian defender go, having spent €25m on him a year ago to sign him from Torino.

The 26-year-old never managed to fully dislodge Victor Moses as Chelsea’s first-team right wing-back, starting just 12 league games under Antonio Conte last season, finding more luck in the Champions League, where he started 50% of his team’s games.

Considering the Premier League side still appear unsure as to who will lead them into the 2018-19 campaign, there’s a feeling transfers in and out of Stamford Bridge are still some way off from happening.
